Blog post about Mobilizon instance: proposed improvements
Kristi added the following comments on our public channel on Mattermost and I'm opening this issue to follow up. Here are his comments:
I'm so happy about being on this channel and I appreciate the content you are sharing here. I just read the blog post @Silva Arapi wrote about the Mobilizon instance. I've been waiting for a tool like this and I'm considering to use Mobilizon for my own projects. It's a very good point that you are launching a free public instance hosted in your servers for people who want to try it. I think this must be communicated as much as possible in your social channels.
I have only two comments for the blog post:
- There should be more hyperlinks as references. Lucky us, there are thousands of articles against Facebook even by the mainstream media. For example, claim Facebook is bad for your privacy needs a reference to make it more accurate to people who are confused about Facebook. Also, dayssincelastfacebookscandal.com (a project by FramaSoft) is a great project to be mention every time we mention the keywords "facebook", "scandal", "privacy", "manipulation", "surveillance", etc.
- More than Facebook groups and events, Mobilizon is more similar to Eventbrite and/or Meetup. Beyond Facebook as the most notorious platform, young professionals, entrepreneurs, tech guys (who are supposed to be a good target for Mobilizon) are using Eventbrite and Meetup. From my experience, the most professional networks use these platforms more than Facebook groups. BuyMeACoffe, an alternative to Patreon has made a matrix to compare their services with Patreon. And just by being honest, they can communicate in a simple way why they are the best alternative to Patreon for creators. You need to do something like that. Not only for Mobilizon, probably. This example from Nextcloud looks exceptional.
